Day 3, Camotes

I am torn. Part of me wants to keep my Camotes experience to myself for fear of the possible exploitation tourism entails, while the other part wants to share its beauty with others. As a fellow blog-reader, I know how hard it is to find an updated entry on these islands so I feel responsible for introducing to my reader the paradise that is Camotes…

Day 2, Mactan-Camotes

THE DATE: August 12, 2017

THE TRIP

06:30     LesLo and I woke up early to find Jomalia Shipping Corporation terminal in Mactan. Jomalia is the only company that offers fast craft service from Mactan to Camotes. My Cebuana officemate suggested this transit instead of taking the Danao route, which will take at least four hours. Mactan terminal  was relatively new and I could not find any website that would give us directions. We decided to look for the place early in the morning to buy tickets, return to the hotel for breakfast, checkout, then head to the terminal. From the hotel, we took a taxi to Cebu Yacht Club, our landmark. We found the terminal called Mactan Wharf. Transportation: Php 55.00

THE TRIP

17:57          From work, I went to Robinsons Manila to ride the UBE Premium Bus parked outside its Pedro Gil wing. Passengers will be dropped off at NAIA Terminals 1, 2, 3, and 4 for a promotional fare of Php 150.00. According to their call center personnel, the bus leaves every two hours. I missed the 4:00 pm bus so I had to wait for the next bus to leave at 6:00 pm. The bus attendants allowed me to leave my luggage while I roam inside the mall. They also allowed passengers to stay inside the bus. The bus was spacious, clean, cold, and had free wifi. The bus left a few minutes before 6pm. I will write a separate post for my review since this was the first time I tried the UBE bus.

A close friend invited me to Camotes Islands, Cebu in August to celebrate her birthday. She already booked the earliest flight from Manila to Cebu on August 11, 2017 via Cebupacific. Her return flight was on August 15, 2017. Since she will pay for our accommodation, I agreed and booked the latest flight to Cebu on August 11. I had work and the trip will cost me two vacation leaves so I told her I cannot accompany her on the earliest flight. We decided to meet in Mactan, stay overnight in a hotel, then head to Camotes Islands the following morning.

Camotes Islands is composed of Pacijan Island, Poro Island, Ponson Island, and Tulang Diot Islet (above Pacijan Island)
