What to do in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte: La Paz Sand Dunes

THE DATE: January 13, 2018

To maximize our short time in Laoag, we decided to see the famous La Paz Sand Dunes. Upon arriving, we were given two options: a 4×4 ride or an ATV ride. Either way, we had to sign a waiver. We chose the 4×4 ride, which can carry a maximum of 4 to 5 persons (depending on body built). We were ten in the group so we had to take two 4×4 rides. We were not briefed so we don’t know what to expect or what to take note of. The whole ride lasted for an hour, I think. We had two stopovers for picture-taking. First was near a cliff and the second was by the shore. The 4×4 will stop near the information center where we started but we had to sandboard to go down.

It was a fun rough ride. I lost my voice from all that screaming and my back was still in pain even after two days. If you don’t want to stand up, you can take the seat beside the driver. You will still enjoy the ride, minus the back pain and the mouthful of sand.
